Individual Buyer from Vietnam Purchases BYD Seal; Chinese EVs Emerge as a New Choice for Southeast Asian Consumers
Time : Aug 10, 2026

Mr. Nguyen, an individual buyer from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, recently completed the purchase of a BYD Seal all-electric sedan through a Chinese cross-border procurement channel.

Mr. Nguyen noted that the BYD Seal has garnered significant attention in Southeast Asia’s new energy vehicle community thanks to its sporty appearance and outstanding performance. However, he opted to source the vehicle directly from China after comparing options, as local dealerships offered limited model variants and high prices. Even after factoring in shipping and customs clearance fees, the total landed cost was nearly 30% lower than purchasing from a local showroom, offering far greater flexibility than local channels.

As the flagship sedan built on the 3.0 platform, the Seal features CTB (Cell-to-Body) integration technology, a rear-wheel-drive layout, and a suspension system comprising front double-wishbones and a rear five-link independent setup—balancing handling dynamics with ride comfort. Its maximum range of 700 km meets the demands of intercity travel in Vietnam, while the intelligent battery thermal management system is well-suited to the region's hot climate. Complemented by "Ocean Aesthetics" design and an all-scenario intelligent cockpit, the vehicle offers a level of product excellence that far surpasses joint-venture models in the same price range.
